Reduce Pain During Exercise

Aqua Therapy is available at two of our locations: Cascade and Walker. Aquatic Therapy helps to reduce pain during exercise and aids in shorter recovery times. Often when a patient has weight bearing issues, aquatic therapy can be a beneficial resource. Patients can still reap the benefits of exercise while decreasing the likelihood of injury.

Aqua Therapy also allows for an earlier start to therapy, is typically less painful and gives patients the ability to move freely in ways that would not be possible on land.

Aqua Therapy Benefits Include:

• Buoyancy-water supports the patient when their muscles and joints are unable to do so; for instance, in cases of arthritis or obesity.
• Resistance-due to higher resistance in the water, patients use many more muscles during aqua therapy. The water resistance also helps with strength and balance.
• Hydrostatic Pressure- emerging patients in water increases blood circulation, helping to relieve swelling, joint stress and other pains.
• Temperature- aqua therapy pools are typically heated to between 92 and 96 degrees, helping muscles to relax and improving blood circulation. Patients suffering from back pain and muscle spasms benefit greatly from the heat.
